Someone Give Us a Repairman Jack Comic Book Series!

If I had a handful of wishes, one of them would likely be to give Repairman Jack a comic book series. The series by F. Scott Wilson would translate well to comic book form and would fit into many of the current trends in the industry.

What is Repairman Jack?

Repairman Jack is a secretive character at the center of a long-running book series by F. Paul Wilson. The character is “off the grid” since he does not have an SSN and has been able to live a life without putting himself in the public eye. He is a brutal man with a huge heart who will “fix problems” like local drug lords, mafia bosses, or other types of thugs. He is not afraid to kill, but appears to enjoy torturing his victims.

The Paranormal

In the Repairman Jack stories, the main character is thrust into situations which reveal some of what is “behind the veil” of reality. He realizes that there are other forces in the universe and that some types of monsters do exist. He fights to keep these elements at bay to protect those he cares about.

True Anti-Hero

Repairman Jack fits with the other types of anti-heroes we have in comics. Think about a cross between Deadpool (brutality not humor) and Constantine (without the magic) and you have Repairman Jack. To truly tell his story, though, he probably could not be published with the Marvel or DC Comics headers. His stories are often brutal and graphic, so he might be best for one of the smaller publishers or from a line such as Marvel MAX or Vertigo.

Paranormal

The success of the Dark Universe stories from DC Comics, and the increasing success of many paranormal or horror-based comics, proves the market is ripe for a Repairman Jack series. He could easily cross paths with other characters who hunt down the paranormal, and stay true to his characterization in book form.

Film or TV Talk

There has been talk about a Repairman Jack movie or TV series for a long time. Those of us who are fans of the book series are tired of waiting. Maybe creating a comic book series on the character will finally get the wheels moving. At the very least, it will help to satiate our hunger for the character.
