My Wishlist for The CW DC Universe Interlocking Shows

With The CW talking about a block of interlocking DC Universe TV shows, starting with Arrow, and then potentially Flash, what other shows would be good for the network? These are my personal favorites which I think would fit the network perfectly.

Suicide Squad

The idea of having a team of criminals working for the government to clean up problems is perfect for TV. Now I am not sure if a character such as King Shark would translate well to TV, but Electrocutioner, Plastique, Cheetah, Deadshot, El Diablo, and many others definitely would. Of course, this would be a perfect opportunity to bring Harley Quinn back to TV as long as she was portrayed better than on Birds of Prey. No Captain Boomerang.

Justice League Dark

Justice League Dark is perfect for The CW since the network has shows which explore the paranormal and horror. Just think about how fit Constantine is fit for TV. Of course, they could bring in Deadman, Madame Zanadu, Zatana, and the rest of the team. Frankenstein might be a stretch, but not when you look at how the network has worked with vampires and werewolves over the years. Of course, this would probably kill the idea of a JLD movie, but I would much rather have a good TV series than a movie anyways.

Wonder Woman

I want to see this curse lifted. I am pushing for a Wonder Woman show. Make the next attempt stick.

The Phantom Stranger

Remember, this is my wish list. You could have the Phantom Stranger helping out new people in danger each week like he did in his original comic. The suggestion would be to not have him be Judas Iscariot on the show. Keep his past a mystery. Too many religious people could get up in arms, and I really don’t like writing about crazed religious people.

Gotham

There has been a rumor batted around about a show which follows the rogues in Gotham. Batman would appear here and there in blurs, but not be the main character of the show. The series would follow the wars of the different gangs. I love the idea. Make it happen The CW.

Katana

Why would I love to see a Katana show on The CW? The same reason I like seeing Katana issues come out every month. DC Comics is trying to make Katana into an important character. They are failing miserably. Sometimes I like to see DC Comics fall down and get humbled. A Katana TV series on The CW would be another instance for me to chuckle.

There you have it my friends. My wish list for the interconnecting shows I want to see come to The CW to fill out the DC Universe block.

Summer Glau on Arrow: More Buzz Than Sting

One of the hottest items of geeky news today is about Summer Glau on Arrow. The actress is going to be taking a reoccurring role on the show on The CW. While I am happy an actress I like has received work, I can’t get excited about Summer Glau on Arrow.

Summer Glau on Arrow: The Role

The actress will portray Isabel Rochev, Vice President of Acquisitions of Stellmoor International. The company she works for will push to take over Oliver Queen’s company. To this point, I have not seen confirmation as to how many times she will appear, but I do see a slight bump coming to at least her first episode on the series.

Summer Glau on Arrow Won’t Help Much

I cannot see Arrow receiving a significant bump from Summer Glau as the show is still on The CW. Arrow was The CW’s best show during the 2012-2013 season but it still only placed in at #130 on the overall list of shows during the season. Shows such as 1600 Penn, 666 Park Avenue, and Malibu Country were all ranked higher than Arrow last season and were cancelled without backlash or surprise. The final episode of the season only had 2.77 million viewers which was down significantly from the 4.14 million people which saw the premiere.

Summer Glau on Arrow: Sorry Summer

I first noticed Summer Glau on The 4400 which was a show my wife and I watched religiously. I later became a Firefly fan when a friend loaned me the box set. As I stated, I am happy she was able to find work, but is not going to be a blockbuster for her.

Why the Buzz Over Summer Glau on Arrow?

If Arrow is an overlookable show, why is there such a buzz over Summer Glau on Arrow? First off, Comic-Con International is only days away and the media companies want to jump on any news right now while we enter the “geek/nerd holiday season.” Oh, wait…there is only one real reason. Don’t believe the buzz as the actress and a handful of appearances will not save the show.
