Could we see Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Forums are blowing up about the African-American character seen in the previews for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and many people believe the enigmatic character could be the mutant Maggott. Let’s take a look to see if this would work.
What the Heck Happened?
Jeffrey Bell was asked by IGN if the African-American character in the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. previews was Luke Cage. While answering the question by confirming that it was not Luke Cage, Bell apparently made an “M” sound and then scoffed at himself for almost stating the actual character’s name. Some fans believe the “M” was a saved statement which would have pointed to Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Others believe it was Michael Collins as Deathlok. You can read about the possibility of Deathlok on the show by following this link.
Could Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Have Been Forecasted?
Up until a matter of months ago, we had not heard anything about Maggott in a long time. A few months ago in All New X-Men, the Jean Grey from the past had a mind link with Kitty Pride. We all spent about five minutes reading all of the bubbles around their heads to see what thoughts were racing through. One of the bubbles was about Maggott. Many of us believe this reference could be a statement about how we might see the parasite-emposered character soon in the printed pages. Could it also be a prep for Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Not likely.
Should the Character be Portrayed on TV?
In Maggott, you have a character which has two large parasites which live inside him and come out from time to time. They can eat through any object and then give the character power once they soak back into his stomach. I can’t see how the creators of the show could pull off that type of graphic and keep squeamish viewers.
Could Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Actually Happen?
Marvel would either have to change the character in some way so that he could not be defined as a mutant. Otherwise, they might have a legal battle with Fox depending on the wording of the contract which grants Fox the rights to the X-Men. This could be a long battle since Fox would not be interested in helping out a show which is on a rival network. I just don’t see Maggott in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actually becoming a reality.
