Free Comic Book Day 2013 at Wonderworld Comics

The Free Comic Book Day events will be taking place in our Detroit (Taylor) location from 10:00am until 5:00pm. Not only will you be able to get your hands on the great free comics being offered during Free Comic Book Day, you will also have the opportunity to meet a few comic book legends and commission artwork from our panel of artists. Other special events may be added before the May 4, 2013 arrival of Free Comic Book Day. Monitor this site for any changes.

Dave Santia

Rock and Roll Speed Painter Dave Santia will be astounding guests with his unique brand of speed painting. Santia filled his auditorium at Detroit Fanfare every time he performed. Artwork created by Dave Santia during Free Comic Book Day 2013 at Wonderworld Comics will be auctioned off and part of the proceeds will benefit Blessings in a Backpack. This ain’t just paining – this is Rock and Roll Speed Painting!

Keith Pollard

Keith Pollard is an industry legend who may be known best for his artwork in Spider-Man, but he also made a name for himself drawing panels of pages in comics such as Thor, The Fantastic Four, and Green Lantern. Keith is the co-creator of Black Cat, one of the regular characters to face off against, and beside, Spider-Man.

Arvell Jones

Arvel Jones is another industry legend who has drawn for such titles as All Star Squadron and Superman Family. He was the publisher of one of the earliest comic book fanzines, Fan Informer. He also worked on DC Comics/Milestone Media’s Kobalt and Hardware.

Gary Reed

Gary Reed is the author of the critically-acclaimed Deadworld series. Over his legendary career, Gary has had the opportunity to work on many titles other than Deadworld including Saint Germaine and Sherlock Holmes.  He launched Caliber Comics in 1989 and many of the top comic book creators found a place to grow their talent under his tutelage.

Panel of Artists

Bill Pulkovski, Ted Woods, Bruce Gerlach, and Tony Miello will also be appearing during the Free Comic Book Day 2013 events at Wonderworld Comics. They will be selling prints and creating sketches.
