Popping over Locke & Key Movie Announcement

I am excited by the thought of Universal bringing Locke & Key to the big screen. Dread Central has given some of the details, and they have me popping.

Locke & Key

Locke & Key

The Long Road

Those of us who have followed the Locke and Key story are happy to see the quest towards a media adaptation finally come to fruition. After a failed TV pilot, and multiple studios looking at the project, Universal is finally moving forward.

Ted Adams Producing

I love the idea of Ted Adams (CEO and Lead Publisher for IDW Publishing) being one of the producers on the film. Too many studios don’t want creators or anyone associated with the publication of a work having anything to do with a movie adaptation. This disdain is how we get Brad Pitt starring in World War Z which is a movie which uses only the name of a great zombie story. I am sure Ted Adams will make sure the movie version of Locke & Key has something for the fans which have made the storyline a success.

Anything Lovecraft

As a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft and his contemporaries, I am always excited when I hear about a project either involving his work, or influenced by his work. Well, as long as former cast members of 90210 are not involved. Locke & Key might “open the door” for more Lovecraftian movies in the future. We can only hope.

Horror Comics

One of the larger portions of my comic book collection is my horror comics collection. Anything project which could bring more attention to horror comics gets me popping again. Horror comics are often overlooked for superhero comics, but the creators of horror in comics have done much and they should not be ignored. Locke & Key might even turn new creators on and make them consider using comics to tell their stories or as a medium for their twisted art.
