Andrea on The Walking Dead: Hate Her More Than Lori

Talking about the character of Andrea on The Walking Dead is sure to bring many snide remarks from the show’s fans. While Laurie Holden has done a great job portraying the character of Andrea on The Walking Dead, fans still hate her (Andrea, not Holden). I would venture to say that many fans now hate Andrea more than they hated Lori.

Comic Book Fans

Many of the fans of The Walking Dead in comic book form are still trying to wrap their heads around the changes in one of their favorite characters from the printed pages. They might like Andrea in The Walking Dead but not Andrea on The Walking Dead. I have heard many say that her character is their least favorite difference between the comic and the show.

Strength vs. Weakness

Instead of being a strong woman who can stand on her own, Andrea on The Walking Dead is a follower who desperately wishes to follow a visionary. Note how Rick simply wants to keep the group alive but both Shane and The Governor dream of something more and the TV version of Andrea is drawn to that factor in both men. While at the farm, we rooted for Andrea when she stood up to Lori and pointed out how women can fight and do not have to be forced into doing laundry and washing dishes. Too bad the strength and clarity fleeted from the character.

Andrea on The Walking Dead Needs to Die

We all knew Lori was going to die eventually on the show. We knew Shane was going to die at some point and we know that The Governor is going to end up having to give a final bow. We know that the version of Andrea on The Walking Dead needs to die, but we don’t know if it will truly happen. We do not have a clear-cut picture in our heads of how it might happen. The uncertainty makes us hate her even more.

Her Stupidity

I know you should not hate a person because they are stupid, but Andrea on The Walking Dead is a character so I will hate her for any reason I want. The Governor’s fatal flaw is he refuses to give up on either his vision or his power. Rick’s fatal flaw is the doubt that comes along with leadership. Andrea’s fatal flaw is her own stupidity in following the wrong person. We hate her because she refuses to give up on the wrong person even though she knows The Governor is the bad guy.

I can’t wait to see Andrea die miserably. I will not be fully content unless she has one of the most graphic deaths in the show’s history. Simply being bitten by a walker or shot would not be a fitting way for her to go. We got chinced with Lori’s death and some might say that Shane’s death was not as climactic as it should have been. The version of Andrea on The Walking Dead needs to die painfully to give the fans what they deserve.
